"Why my academic journey inspired me to seek more holistic solutions."

Why did you choose the UX & Service Design (M.A.) programme at SRH Fernhochschule?

Firstly, I found the content of the UX & Service Design M.A. programme interesting and the course is taught in English, which makes me feel more confident. In addition, the distance learning programme gives me the flexibility to study alongside my job and spend time with my daughter and husband at the same time. However, this flexibility is also a challenge. That's why it helped me to take part in the TIPS meetings, which are regular meetings with the programme director Prof. Dr Faust. The exchange with Mr Faust and the other students motivates me to regularly devote time to my studies.

Do you work alongside your studies? If so, what kind of work do you do and how can you already use the skills from your degree programme?

I work 20%, i.e. one day a week. The content of the Master's programme has helped me to approach the challenges I face at work differently. It has also made me look for more holistic solutions and think about other ways in which what I am proposing could impact the system.

How do you manage to combine distance learning with your professional and private life?

That was a big challenge. At the beginning, it was difficult for me to have so much flexibility because there are always other things that are more urgent. But by meeting regularly, you stay on track and manage to juggle family and work.

What professional goal are you pursuing with your Master's degree?

I want to achieve a better, higher position through my studies. And I want to learn how to do my job more efficiently and improve my management skills.

Dear Maria, thank you very much for your insights! We wish you continued success in your studies and new skills that you can put to good use.
