Implementation of accessibility requirements

SRH Fernhochschule GmbH has taken care to design and develop its website to be accessible – or at least low-barrier – in terms of layout, usability, and navigation.

The requirements for accessibility are derived from Section 3 of the German Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG) in conjunction with the Regulation on the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSGV), which was issued on the basis of Section 3 (2) BFSG. The BFSGV defines the accessibility requirements for services offered in the course of business in Sections 12, 13, and 19. The technical specifications are based on EN 301 549.

These requirements have been implemented as follows:

Measures already implemented:

  • Customised, simple usability, simplified, user-friendly navigation
  • Increased visibility of contact and service features of font, links, buttons through colour contrasts, contact buttons and directions
  • Setting of colour-contrasting hyperlinks and use of increased font size in sections and service offers
  • Recognisability of hyperlinks
  • Labelling of non-text content with text alternatives
  • Adjustment of colour contrasts
  • Usability of the website with the keyboard
  • Logical focus sequence
  • Clarification of the current position of the focus
  • Language labelling in the HTML tag

The website already offers good accessibility in many areas for all users. However, it does not yet fully comply with the requirements of the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV). As part of an upcoming technical revision, the relevant accessibility requirements will be implemented step by step.

  • Videos via YouTube and Vimeo
  • Online appointment booking via eTermin
  • Website widgets via Common Ninja
